about

I'm a theatre director, writer and collaborator living in London. I make collaborative work that invites its audience to play. I particularly enjoy making work with live music, working with comedy and making work for young audiences. I’ve worked extensively internationally, in countries including the Netherlands, Canada, India and South Africa.

I lead Bucket Club, a produced company at Farnham Maltings whose work I write and direct. Shows include Lorraine & Alan, Fossils, Launch Party, Catch That Beast! , Five Children and It and most recently The Christmas Lobster, the Christmas show for Farnham Maltings. We’ve won the Brighton Fringe Award for Excellence and a Musical Theatre Network Award for Innovation and toured the UK and to Brits Off Broadway.

I work often with the HandleBards, making outdoor, four actor clown versions of plays including The Tempest and Romeo and Juliet that tour by bike. I’ve directed new writing by writers including Marietta Kirkbride and Sabrina Mahfouz.

I’ve been a BBC Performing Arts Fund Fellow, where I was Director in Residence at Tobacco Factory Theatres for a year. I’ve worked as an assistant director at the Young Vic and the RSC and was recently a Resident Director at the Almeida.

I’ve taught and directed at drama schools like Mountview, Bristol Old Vic, Drama Studio, Bath Spa and Central. I’m a National Theatre Connections director and a facilitator with the Old Vic.

Current projects in development include a new main house show for Shakespeare North, a children’s opera with English Touring Opera and a new main house show for a London children’s theatre.
